Wow!!! In 10 days I will be boarding my flight to Paris. I'm in shock and so unprepared! I know, me, unprepared? Hard to imagine, but its the truth. Here's an example of how unprepared... it was only two weeks ago that I finally found a place to stay. Not to say that I hadn't been looking, I just couldn't for the life of me find a place that could accommodate me the entire length of my stay and I knew I wasn't interested in playing the hotel shuffle game.
So here it is.... my place of residence for 9 nights. Though I know nothing about this place other than the fact that it's in the location that I wanted, it came recommended by a friend who's travel experience I trust. (Thanks again!)
For those of you who were worried...for roughly 60 euros a night, you can rest easy that I will be sleeping safe and sound in a single room, behind locked doors. Did I mention that 60 euros however doesn't buy me a shower in my room but rather down the hall? To be honest, I could've paid more money to have this luxury but I'm cheap! Hell, I almost didn't pay to even have a toilet in my room but my logic kicked in when I imagine that my evenings will probably consist of bringing a bottle (or two) of wine back to the hotel with me and well....a toilet might be a good idea :) Oh, what stories I will have to tell!! Love it!!
Anyway, in other news.... I finally also booked my cooking classes. Is it just me or does it seem weird that the main reason I'm going to France is for these cooking classes and yet I just made my reservation today? What's happened to me? Oh wait, I know...I'm a wife, mother, student, nurse tech, cook, maid, etc. who is in dire need of a mental break so I can recharge and get back on my game; my second reason for taking this trip.
Alas, I digress. Back to the point. Did you catch the plural? Cooking classes. That's right, my reservations are for not one, but two classes. Wednesday morning I will be happily strolling around a French market gathering ingredients for a three course meal and then on Saturday I will be spending my afternoon delighting in the art of making French breakfast pastries and breads...ahh, I'm in love and this love will surely end up following me home on my hips ;)
My other plans for while I'm there? I've got a small list of things that I absolutely want to see while there, for example; the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, and the Musee Rodin. I had also wanted to do a wine tasting or perhaps a daytrip to Champagne and now I'm even checking into spending a night or two in Burgundy after talking with a wine distrubtor from Joseph Drouhin whom I met at The Fresh Market while doing a wine tasting.
So, who knows what will happen. All I'm sure of right now is that I've got two more classes, a wine tasting, a girls night out, a baby shower, three nights of back to back work, a few doctor's appointments and a whole lot of packing and organizing to do before I board that flight....
Let the countdown begin!!
